The camera is all over the place and deserves its own section!

THANKS!

(just my 2c of course)

Edit: Great I funked up the title aaarrgghhhh

There is a Panasonic GH section with a GH3 prefix you can add. Although the description for that section does need to be updated.

It's weird, there are far more cameras that need their own sub, especially from Sony. A new GH sub? Somehow that doesn't make much sense to me. The GH2/3 are far too similar to split them up between different subs. So many questions that revolve around the GH2 or GH3 inevitably apply to both cameras- not all the time, but I would say that half of the potential conversations had in a GH3 sub, would likely also pertain to the GH2.

I say GH3 should have its own user forum. There are way more GH3s out there shooting video than BMCCs. The GH3 could be one hack away from taking over the world.

The thing I like about DVXUser is that it encompasses so much more than a single camera or product line. It's a great place to discuss all kinds of issues relevant to the film and video community. That's why I like photo.net - it's all about photography, which is pretty distinct from film and video really. It's always been a different mindset, and although that's changing a little, the approach to photo will always be different from video/film. And then there's a site like timelapse.org, which combines some photo and some video, but both about a very specific kind of photo and video. It's geared towards a different community who doesn't care much about lighting, audio, actors, production design.... Each of these sites caters to different audiences.

But a forum just for GH cameras? That's kind of what personal-view.com is really. But hey, gh3user.com is available. So is ghuser.com. Maybe you could start a new one? Although probably most people will end up back here because there's so much other info important to filmmaking besides a camera.

Then again, maybe you just mean a section on this site for GH cameras? That already exists.

Or, do you mean a sub-forum under the Panasonic GH section? I'd probably just rename "GH1/GH2 Workflow" and "GH1/GH2 Hardware, Lenses, etc." to "GH Workflow" and "GH Hardware, Lenses, etc." I think L1N3ARX is right.

If you guys just want to see "GH3" threads, and filter out the rest, just click on one of the gh3 prefixes in the list of threads. It will filter out all others and leave just those threads with a gh3 prefix in them. Click a gh3 prefix again to return it to its default state.

Alternatively, you can use the thread display options menu at the bottom of the thread list. It does the same thing.

Since there were steadily fewer GH1 posts after the GH2, and will likely be steadily fewer GH2 posts with the arrival of the GH3, a sub forum seems... well, silly.

I don't get why a mod doesn't just update the names and descriptions of the current threads? That's kind of basic forum maintenance, no?

As in:

"GH1/GH2 Workflow" ----> "GH Workflow"
"GH1/GH2 Hardware, Lenses, etc." ----> "GH Hardware, Lenses, etc."

Cause you know, when the GH4 (or GH5, GH6....) finally comes around, people will be asking for new sub-forums for those.....

Perfect. Cheers.
I don't mind reading about GH3, I just want to filter out all the lazy questions from new camera owners who don't do any research!
