Mobile HDD 400GB offload solution

Maybe HVX has got one huge mobile battery (last 10 hours of usage) powered HDD kit that you could store almost 10 hours of DVCPRO HD footage offloading from HVX200 using FireWire 400 or USB 2.0!!!

Have a look below:

M9 Mini Pod M9-DX comes with both USB and Firewire/1394a. You could add 400-GB Hitachi DeskStar 7K400 hard drive and even a bigger one (500GB). Than for a power supply you could attached M9-DX to Anton Bauer STASIS™ POWER SUPPORT SYSTEM. The new super-lightweight STASIS shoulder mount redirects the geometry of a mini-DV camera to make use of the most stable camera support platform in the world - the human body.

Not only does it come with USB 2.0 and Firewire 1394a interfaces, but the MiniPod also includes a USB hub. The dip switches (red) are used to control the fan speed.

Don't forget these two things can give you about 10 hours of DVCPRO HD offload and Anton Bauer battery life is also about 10 hours. A properly balanced shoulder mounted camera places the center of gravity on the shoulder, creating a stable shooting platform. Extremely effective mobile solution for the HVX.

Nice, SJ

I am thinking along these lines, by using a small laptop and a steadicam.
Are you talking about streaming directly in or just ofloading to
?

Streaming could be possible too because you could add the 7200rmp fast drive in the enclosure that you carry and power with Anton Bauer stuff. A lot of ENG cams are powered like this and also mobile HDCAM SR VTR (recorder) that high end HD cams use for recording (CineAlta, Viper, Genesis, Arri D20, Varicam etc.). So that is a very common solution and has quality long-life battery. If somebody could check it out both together. Maybe Kaku Ito. He is looking for solutions like this because his consulting-shop could provide one try out test WITH ALL PARTS at the moment: HVX, the battery, the enclosure and Hitachi DeskStar 7K400 hard drive.

Streaming would not be possible without some sort of computer inbetween the camera and the drive. That's what makes the CinePorter and FireStore unique -- they are capture computers that control a drive. So if you attached that drive to a laptop somehow then you could do what you're suggesting, but the camera cannot do live video streaming to a regular hard disk to capture live recording; it needs to either record to P2 first and then offload, or to stream to an "intelligent" device like a FireStore or CinePorter.

"the most stable camera support platform in the world - the human body."

Now that statement has to be the biggest crock that I have read all day!

And that's straight from Stasis' page, so not sjuser's opinion but Anton/Bauer's.
Fortunately they don't make tripods... :)

NOW EVERYBODY IS JUMPING IN THE HVX TRAIN:
