Well tonight we have Mussina going against Verlander. Last night I was wrong (I picked the Yankees 13-3) but tonight I am saying Yankees 5-2.

Go A's. What a frickin' game. Incredible. Winning on an inside the park homer.

I just hope Billy Beane got all of his sins in the Big Book for Yom Kippur.

Come on Yahweh, we are just looking for one more win!

Also, go Tigers! And, actually this time because I am happy for the Tigers not just because I hate the Yankees.

the yankees are always good. I respect that. They spend lots of money. well, if you've got it, spend it right? I can respect that too.

The only thing I really don't like about the Yanks (and this isn't really their fault) is that every fair-weather fan on the westcoast roots for the Yankees.

and my roomate is one of them. I love arguing with him and getting him to admit that he's a crappy fan, and he only likes the Yankees because they win a lot.

So that is my motivation for hoping the A's knock off the Yanks...someday it will happen. but first we gotta win game 3!

i dont like the tigers, FLUKE team, with one of the worst records in baseball after the break. i predict a sweep for the yanks.

The radio guys were talking trash for 2 innings about that play. Ive heard pretty much all the out of market commentators, and id have to say the 3 best are Oakland, SF, and LAD. All of course are for the home teams, but they arent biased, dont start jumpin up and down when the team gets a run. Listening to the Oak game was hard, they was no love for Oakland, like we are the bad guys, no respect for the numbers of our players. "Zito is 'good', Santana is 'great'" saying stuff like that. ugh.

Now the mets are trying to cheat, distracting LA batters with a fire in the parking lot.

Yeah, I've never listened to a better commentator that Vin Scully.

Of course, the national media doesn't believe that sports are played anywhere west of the Mississippi...and that no good ball is played anywhere except New York and Boston.

That's one of the main things I miss about living up in northern CA...watching all the A's games I could handle, and listening to them on the radio. now it's nothing but Padres.

Vin is the man, greatest ever. Always by himself, but never not has anything to say. Constant stream of info, stories and a pro. No biased. The Boston guys are BAD! Theres something wrong with a 60 something year old commentator saying "BIG PAPI' does it again!" oh, they were really hard to listen to for some games. It was like listening to fans in the bleachers calling the game. Theres a line ya know.

I think that one of the main reasons to hate the Yankees is all their money. I think that they are emblematic of a lot that is wrong with the USA. Sure they are good. No doubt about it. But, they are good because they buy the best players out there. It takes absolutely no talent to whip out Daddy Steinbrenner's credit card and go on a shopping spree at the end of the season. For this reason alone, I would never cheer for the Yankees.

And, on the flip side, that is what makes it so great to cheer for the A's. One of the lowest payrolls in the MLB, but the A's always seem to be in contention. And, they always have those big payroll hot shots coughing up big bucks for all of the talent that they were able to cultivate. It takes a lot of chutzpah and a lot of skill to work with no budget and produce great players.

That's my two cents on why it is nice to be an A's fan.

My other two cents would be, what other team offers a $2 ticket and $1 hot dogs for every Wednesday home game? The A's love their fans as well.

LOL, ya. I only listened to like 4 giants games this year though when me and my partner (giants fan) were driving around the city for an HVX project. Im not a Giants fan.

Oak A's
Oak Raiders
SF 49'ers
LA Dodgers

Yanks fans are just spoiled, like seriously not FANS. YOu dont boo your own guy when hes doin bad, makes an error. A-Rod , i dont like him personally, but hes great, and they boo him at home?

Something that was nice to see today was after Torii Hunter gave up that inside the park home run, when he came to bat the next inning, he got an ovation, a pick me up. Imagine if someone messed up in NY? Imagine if that was A-Rod.
