ML Raw CDNGs with Auto Synced Audio now working in Resolve

Big shout out to chmee for finally cracking the synced audio conundrum with ml raw video!

Chmee's Raw2CDNG app is now capable of extracting CDNGs+WAV that Da Vinci Resolve can recognize and autosync.

For PC only, go to chmee's site to download the latest app, currently 1.5.0 beta3
Please show your appreciation for his efforts and be generous to donate.

Link to his site.

The app is a simple drag and drop workflow. Choose your destination folder and click convert.

After the cdng extraction using beta3, open Resolve.

Drag the folder containing all the extracted dngs and wavs into the Media Pool.

In the Media Pool right click on Master folder, or if you crated a New Bin right click the Folder containing the footage files.

Choose AutoSync based on timecode.

In Edit Tab, Create New Timeline, uncheck create empty timeline, all your footage with linked audio shows up on new timeline.

Very cool! I used 1.4.9.7 to edit directly in PPro CC- worked really well. Not having to use ACR+AE is a huge time saver (though editing RAW cdng's take up a bit of disk space). A multithreaded AMaZE debayer to ProRes 4444 12-bit would be very helpful (mlrawviewer runs about 1fps outputting to ProRes. AMaZE should do 12+fps on this 12-core Macpro or about 5-6 fps on a recent 4-core MBP). Another way would be to write a plugin (if possible) for Resolve to directly read MLV (for fast transcoding to ProRes/DNxHD).

I have been working exclusively with ACR.. I know its a lot more long winded, but I have recently just found the balance that give me the image I want and I love working with it. However, this is great work by Chmee, and if I ever consider trying resolve again I'll give it a spin for sure!!

Cheers Ted
