MKII vs MKIII test from Japan

Some of the MKIII shots look a bit soft. The tester didn't quite nail the focus on at least one of the shots. The other thing to consider is that NR is applied to video on the MKIII and is adjustable which could account for the softness we've been seeing. Dynamic range looks like it's been improved by 1-2 stops. :2vrolijk_08:

Quite underwhelming :( In fact the Mark II looked sharper in most shots. But it is a low light beast tho.

There is improvement the noise in the brick walk in the daylight shot as well as the high ISO is better. Other than that the MKII still holds up quite well.
The high price tag is still the issue.

I wouldn't draw any conclusions about sharpness from this test. As I said the focus is off on some shots. One of the shots shows the MKIII foreground sharper but if you look at the background the MKII is sharper. I think the dude needs some new glasses! Plus it's all vimeo compressed footage and we don't know anything about lenses used, post workflow etc..

True. Its sad that even if the focus is a little messed up it looks light years away in sharpness from this
But it is kick @$$ and taking names in the low light dept.

If the NR is turned off, presumably it will be sharper but then how does the ISO noise compare with 5D2?

image resource has stills examples with NR on and off and the MKIII is superior in all examples. It's a new improved sensor and is better in low light with or without NR. There was no NR in video mode on the MKII.

High ISO....this one looks quite GH2 like....maybe this dude found the sharpness and NR sweet spot.

Yes as usual, but that aliasing in that blue A-shirt is far behind the acceptable.
