just wanted to get this straight. seems odd to me. but my card is 16gb and when i switch over to mjpeg it, it says it only has 8min 20s of record time on there. is that right? or is that 2 gig ever 8mins? i know mjpeg has a cap. that's my thinking.
 
I don't have my GH1 in front of me right now, but I'll bet you a nickel it's because of the 2GB file size limit. Go record for 8 minutes straight, and stop recording, and look at your free time; I bet it'll say 8 min 20s. And it'll continue to say that until you get down below 2GB of available space on the card.
 
it just reports the time left for the current clip! once that clip ends it will start over with the same time for a new clip

its even worse in PAL land - every clip in AVCHD is limited to 30mins so u never know how much space is left on a card
