This probably been asked already, but a search for "read error" causes some kind of fatal error in the forum search function.. hmmm .... :-/
I've implemented the Andrew Reid / EOSHD MJPEG patch* for and I'm getting card read errors (both on class 10 and class 6 cards).
This means that apparently the camera is filming correctly but when I can't preview the film in-camera AND the .mov file cannot be read from an external program such as Handbrake, VLC, Quicktime, which is to say the least very frustrating.
I am also baffled by the logic of this error. Other users report recording problems on tripod shots - yet the following tripod test (ISO 320, 24mm 2.8 manual lens closed down to 5.6) shooting detailed foliage worked perfectly 4 times in a row...

Other handheld test shots of trees or equally detailed objects result in the infamous "read error".
It's a ***** - 'cause you don't know until you do a in-cam preview of the shot if it has worked or not (the card crash error instead is immediately evident)...
At the end of the day I think I'll stick w/ AVCHD as it seems more stable - I still haven't experienced any crashes or read errors with the "C" setting (as per Ptool's indications).
Oh BTW - is there really no way to save/play the broken .mov recordings....?
Thx
Paul
