Mixing HVX and AF100 footage

I'm shooting a feature with the AF100 at 1080P, 24fps. For a couple of shots I used an HVX on the 1080 -30fps setting, which I understand is actually 1080i. The footage looks great when played back in QT but when dropped on the FCP timeline with the AF footage it strobes a bit and looks choppy. Any solution to this?

Well, that's basically an FCP question so you might want to ask your question there, but ... if you're putting 30p footage onto a 24p timeline, yes the NLE will have to blend frames together to make it work. You might want to play the HVX footage back at 80% speed, that would make it slow-mo (slightly) and should play smoothly in a 24p timeline.

Changing the speed to 80% speed didn't help, just made the bad looking clip go slower, so I took the 1080i30 clip and converted it to 1080p24 (Prores) in Quicktime. It now looks much better on the FCP timeline.
