MIXING HPX170 and HMC150 IN PREMIERE/FINAL CUT

Heyyy guys.

I have a tricky situation. I am the DP on a documentary being shot in Italy in June. We originally were going to use the HPX500, but because of massive shipping and security costs, decided to purchase an HPX170 and an HMC150.

I own an HPX170 and am accustomed to the simply DVCPRO HD workflow in both Premiere CS3/4 and Final Cut.

My question is, How do I mix both DVCPRO HD and AVCHD in the same project?

One is Long Gop, and one isn't.

Can someone walk me through the Final Cut or Premiere workflow?

Does the AVCHD material need to be transcoded into a Iframe only codec like ProRes422?

Anyone's input, no matter how small, will be MUCH appreciated.

I often mix HXV and HMC footage. If you go through the normal log and transfer process, the HMC foorage will be transcoded to ProRes. I generally use a ProRes timeline when mixing like this...

Mixing codecs in Premiere is easy -- if Premiere supports the codec, all you have to do is drop the footage on the timeline, whatever it happens to be.

The problem is that CS3 doesn't support AVCHD.
