Mixing GH1/GH2 with other cams

Just wondering what other cams everyone is mixing their GH footage with and what results they are getting. Currently I'm shooting weddings primarily with a V1p and my GH1 footage doesn't match well at all.

I'm starting to put together my upgrade roadmap and looking at a few options. I'd like to incorporate the GH1 (and probably a new GH2 as well) into weddings, using them for pretty much everything except the ceremony, so having cams that match them well will be a priority.

Based on price, my main camera choices will be the HMC150 or the Sony NX5. I know the AF100 will match perfectly but it's out of my budget, plus it doesn't zoom smoothly which is the main thing I want from my primary camera. I like the idea of having everything Panasonic (HMC150, GH1/GH2 & something like a TM700) so I have matching files, workflow, colours etc, but I'm worried the GH2 sharpness will blow the slightly soft HMC150 out of the water. On the other hand the NX5 is supposedly sharp as a tack but I'll have the same colour matching problems as I do now.

Anyone have any experience matching GH footage with these cams? What other cams are people using them with and what have your experiences been?

Good to know. Do you find the HMC150 softer at all?

I'm sick of having to colour match footage from different cameras, so for my next upgrade having ones that are at least similar in their colour rendition is an important consideration.

I'd really love some inside info on how to get these two cameras to match as well.

I.e - is there a film mode setting on the GH1 that matches one of the scene files on the HMC150 straight out of the box?

If the GH1 is the main cam would you recommend getting that how I like it and then trying to match the HMC150 against it or vice versa?

One interesting thing I did find when testing the match yesterday is the colour difference in the LCD screen. When both cam's were set to 3.2k colour temp the GH1 looks drastically warmer in the LCD screen but on the PC they looked near enough the same colour.

I've found the GH1 and EX1 match pretty well actually. I did a video awhile back with GH1, 5D, and HVX-200 stuff in it.

what settings did you use to match up the gh1 and the 5d? i've added a gh2 to the mix now and am assuming that the gh1 and gh2 will match (in good light) seamlessly, but I've never gotten the 5d settings quite right.

In good light is the nail on the head. I believe 5D was neutral with contrast and sharpness turned down to minus 4 and sat at 0...or something like that. I think GH1 was Standard with Contrast -2, Sharpness +1, NR -2, and Sat +/- 0. I had to add contrast and saturation to the 5D to get it to match, and then I graded both from there.
