Mixing Formats

I'm wondering how one goes about mixing the many formats of this camera. Say, for instance, that I shoot a show for regular 4:3 SD TV in DVCPro50 (to get that great green monster, 4:2:2 look). But, I've also shot some 720p(n?), 16:9 HD to get some slow-mo that I want to use in this 4:3 SD production.

1. Am I correct in assuming that I would just bring the 16:9, 720 HD stuff into the DCVPro50, 4:3 timeline (in FCP), crop it, and scale it down to 4:3?

2. Am I also correct in assuming that this would have to be rendered as if I was dropping some anamorphic video into a non-anamorphic sequence?

3. If I remember correctly, the only way to get the variable frame rates on the HVX is to shoot 24pn, giving me a true 24 progressive frames. How do I then mix that in with the DVCPro50 stuff that was shot with the standard 24p pulldown (which I might want so that it still has that 24p look but plays back easily on SD 60i TV sets)?

Thanks in advance. And, please brothers and sisters, forgive my ignorance. I know not what I do (yet).

Okay, I've noticed that 55 people have looked at this thread without anyone even venturing an answer. I'm not sure whether this question is so good that no one has an answer, or so stupid that I'm simply being "dissed." Barry, Jared, Jan, Evinsky... can anyone answer this?

There's nothing stupid about the question, it's just that I haven't done it yet and I'm still a newbie at FCP.

I'd say your instincts are correct, and that's how I'd do it. I'd shoot DV50, and shoot slowmo stuff in 720/24pN. Then edit on the DV50 24P timeline. You should be able to import the 720p stuff directly, do a center extraction (cutting off the sides), and yes you'd have to render it. But it should all work.
