I have not used The DVX, however in comparisons between Stuff shot on a Canon XL-1, and stuff shot on the HVX200 (mini-dv) the HVX looked Much better than the Canon and definitely passable when compared to Beta SP footage.
To my eye the HVX had more details in the blacks, and richer colors when compared to the Canon, but with minimal amounts of color correction, mostly adjusting the black levels, the images matched in terms of color.
Motion with the HVX seemed slightly 'softer(?)'... not sure what vocabulary should be used here... but it didn't look as 'mini-dv' in that respect, but was instead closer to Beta SP....
When shooting DV they intercut just fine. I used the HVX for some reshoots and pickups on a short film that was otherwise shot all with the DVX and the footage intercuts seamlessly.
