Ok, we all know you are supposed to stick to one brand of tape for the life of your DVX and never switch brands to avoid mixing lubes that could damage your heads.

I heard from the guy at the cam shop that said that if you stick to the panasonic MQ tapes then you will never have to clean your heads. Is this true? or was he just trying to sell me the most expensive tape?

Ok, what if I do this: I have a DVX and an XL2 and both use panasonic MQ tapes only. What if I mix the tapes I shoot with the two cams in each other? Will this cause any harm?
I guess what Im asking is if the camera itself provides any lubricant onwhich could hop onto a tape infecting other hosts.

Re: Mixing cameras with Same Tape brand.

No, you should be fine mixing between the 2 cameras.

Just keep using the MQ tapes for both cams and you will be fine.
