Mixing 720p 24fps with SD (30i), and DNXHD. Also in "Workflow"

Hello all. I posted this in the "Workflow" area, and it may have been the wrong spot.

I have been searching for a few days within the archives and
other sites, and have still
not found a straightforward 1,2,3 type of answer for achieving a mix of
HD 720p 24fps
footage with older SD 30i shots in the same timeline. I am importing MXF
files from my
HVX200 P2 card, into my Avid Xpress Pro 5.6. This is for a music video being shot in Ontario, Canada and we'd love to shoot in 720 24p, and add in some SD news and MiniDV footage we have.

Also, what type of workflow are people using when importing MXF
files from their P2
cards to turn them into the smaller files size DNXHD. Are you converting
them to DNXHD
(just using Transcode?), inside of Avid and then deleting the older
larger files? I've tried this
succesfully but couldn't find where the newer DNXHD file was placed so i
could then delete
the original file.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a Quad G5 with 2.5 GB of Ram on OSX 10.4.7.
