Mixing 720 24p with DVX 24p

how would i mix DVCPROHD 720 with DVX footage in the same timeline? Or should i shoot at DVCPRO50, 50 as i take it is 480 correct? And it records to .mxf as opposed to .avi? Should i upres the DVX using instant HD? My final output is DVD. Maybe i should record in DVCPRO50, does it have the same resolution as DV? 720x480?

id just import he 720p footage into a SD timeline.

A lot will depend on what NLE you are using but with FCP you cant mix different codecs on the same timeline without having to render one or the other. DVCPro50 is a standard def resolution of 720 x 480. All of the available formats on the HVX when shot to the P2 card are MXF files. There are a lots of different options available to you. One would be to shoot in HD to the P2 card and then downconvert in camera to the DV tape., then capture from the tape to your NLE. That way it will play in the same timeline with your DVX footage and you could always keep the HD files on a drive for later if you wanted to re-do the show in HD. Or you could use the same technique with DVCPro50 material.
