I finally got around to editing our Christmas morning home video, in which I set up both my HVX and dusted off the DVX for a B-cam. I used identical scene file settings and recorded on both in DV in 480/24p (of course I shot to P2 on the HVX - tape is evil!)
After editing in FCP in a 29.97 timeline and watching on the TV, I noticed that the DVX footage has much more of a "video" look, without as much of the "film" characteristics as the HVX.
Why?
I've always assumed both cameras use the same technology to achieve 24p over 60i ... why is the HVX looking so filmlike? Every time the video cuts to the DVX it looks like that effect on Friends where they show Joey's soap opera scenes and it obviously looks like 60i video.
