mixing 24p HMC footage with 5d footage

Hello all,

I've been shooting my footage a documentary with the HMC150 at 720/24p. I was hoping to shoot one scene with a Canon 5d (with the Zoom h4n for sound). I know the 5d shoots at 29.xx fps. If I shoot sync sound with the 5d and the h4n, is it possible to mix the footage from both in the same timeline? (I'm using FCP 7.0) I guess there'd need to be some way to draw down the 29.xx fps to work with the 24p footage without adversely affecting the sound from the H4n.

Any advice much appreciated.

The 5D will shoot at 24p too. If your's doesn't then you just need to update the 5D firmware and then it will. Once it's in the sequence simply resize the 5D 1080p footage to 66.67% and you are done.

If you can't (for reasons I can't think of right now) you can still mix them in an FCP timeline (create the sequence, drop the HMC footage on to make the settings match that - then drop the 5D footage on next) but you will likely have to render all the 5D footage so that it can be edited in real time.

To change the frame rate on the 5D2

• Go to the 6th menu across
• Go down to Live View / Movie Func. Set
• Movie Rec.Size. - set to 1920x1080 24
