Mixing 24p and 24pA

I began working on a project using 24p normal, and really love the look of it. I'd like to use 24pA as well, to mix the various visual pallates this camera allows one to create. Does this create a problem when using, say, FCP4?

And if one were to shoot 60i for a few scenes and do a pulldown to achieve 24p, would this also present a problem in the timeline?

Regarding the conversion of 60i footage to 24P...no problems in the timeline, but your footage won't match. You can't simulate 24P footage if you shot in 60i to the same degree as SHOOTING in 24P. You will notice a difference in the look....but timeline wise, itll match perfectly (because you *will* be using 24 frames per second, even if they weren't captured that way).

As far as the visual pallate differences between 24PN and 24PA, there aren't any. It's the same exact CCD capturing the image, it's only recorded to tape in different ways, 24PA being optimized for NLE native 24P editing, and 24PS mainly for NTSC releases, and the ability to use your footage in a 60i timeline.

I hope this wasn't too confusing...I tend to suck at explaining things :P

What Mike said. :)

You aren't likely going to notice any difference visually between 24PA and 24PS. There is a very slight cadence difference, but it would take a very trained eye to see it. If you want to mix visual styles, try the 30P setting, which will give a different look than 24P and 60i.
