Mixing 1080 60P and 720 60P same CS5 timeline ???

This is the scenario. I have one GH13 that shoots 1080 24P or I think 60i too. It does shoot 720 60P, but not 1080 60P.

I have two GH2s on order, again I am not seeing 1080 60P as an option, but 720 60P is.

I also have just ordered a Panny SD600K camcorder, that shoots in 1080 60P only.

The common denominator in all of them is 60P, but some at 720 and one at 1080. I am assuming matching the 60P is more important that the 720 and 1080, as it is how the image is created.

I have CS5 and will want to use all of these in various projects. Can I drop both on the same tmeline, or will I have to be converting footage first ???

If I have to convert footage, what do you suggest for a program to do this, and do I convert size, or convert the one 1080 60P to 1080 24P and run with the others natively ???

Thanks guys !!!

Premiere can handle different footage on the timeline easily, although obviously you'll need to edit in a 720p 60p project and scale down the 1080p footage.

Use the timeline which most of the footage is. If it's mostly 1080p, then use that. The 720p won't be as sharp as the 1080p (though depending on the cameras and lenses, it could be close), but I'd definitely match the timeline to the majority of the footage. You'll get smoothest functionality that way.

Thanks guys !!!

Am I correct in that I have to keep it all 60P ???

Also, from my memory of conforming images to frame size, do I do the same with the odd size footage, right click and hit "fit to frame" or whatever it is called ???

In my case, i'm shooting with a Canon T2i with mostly 720 60p videos and with a few 1080 24p vids. What i'd like to do is be able to have some footages be slow motion or alter the speeds. I want the final output to be in 24p... What would be the best project setting to work with? 720 60p?

720 24p.

Unless you don't want it to look live, then yeah, 60p.

Thanks David but wouldn't this conform the 60p to 24p once I throw it onto the timeline? Giving me less frame rates to work with when I'm trying to slow it down with twixtor?

Nope - you're not losing any frames or dropping frames.

You're taking the same number of frames, but playing them back more slowly. You're playing the exact same 60p clip, but at 24 fps - hence the duration of the clip will be longer. It's not decimating frames.

So if you use twixtor, it will interpolate new frames with access to the same original data

You don't need to use Twixtor. You're probably better off simply changing the playback rate to 40%. Then, each 60p frame lines up exactly with the timeline, and is simply, as PDR said, displayed for longer.

Awesome, thanks for the explanation PDR. Another noob question I have is how can I slow the video down by frame rates using twixtor? I able to adjust speed fine but when I choose the option to adjust by framerates, my video does nothing.

When you use "frame number" , you are retiming the clip by setting keyframes

I suggest you look at the user manual and have a look at the tutorials by revisionfx on youtube.
