Is this intended for connecting HVX to tripod?

Are you supposed to somehow screw the HVX onto this or is there a quick release plate for tripods with this head?

the center strip comes off the tripod head, screws into the base of your HVX, then slides back into the tripod head

that's a standarad quick release plate and will work on any prosumer camera

That looks like a 577 Bogen QR plate in the photo, I prefer the Bogen 3272 QR plate instead. It's longer for better balance and a lot of manfacturers use them in their line of product (the Redrock and Letus baseplate come to mind). The way that these things slide in are standard, but from what I've seen it looks like the Sachtler Touch and Go QR plate is incredibly fast to setup.
