Mixed frame rate decision

Hello GH1ers,

We shoot primarily with a Panasonic 170 (typically at 720/24pn) and the GH1 has been added as a b-camera. With the GH1 we're shooting in SH mode (720/60p--sensor output 60fps). Or we think that makes sense. (Still to be learned and factored in is slo-mo with the GH1 and the best workflow for getting footage ready for or log-and-transferred into Final Cut Pro.) We also occasionally toss in video shot with a GF1 also in SH mode (720/60p--sensor output 30fps) and footage shot with an LX3 at HD (720/24fps).

So ... keeping primary attention on the main cameras -- the 170 and GH1 -- would we be better off shooting at 30fps? That is, should we rethink how we shoot the 170 and make it 30pn? That way we wouldn't have any conversion of GH1 footage down to 24.

I think we'd get better (smoother) results from the GH1, correct? And still have slo-mo, yes?

Or is this thinking flawed?

Thanks for any comments,
Bradley
