Mission San Diego de Alcalá One lens shoot

Veteran

I went back to get more footage for my Lumix 12-35 lens test. This cut is for me with extra footage from inside the mission. I also added a few extra shots from the gardens.

Used push to focus in the interiors and it worked very well in low light.
+1. It's a nice lens. Glad you are making it shine! Had this lens been available a year ago, the af100 would have done so much better. It's done great thus far, but this lens gives new life to the Af100. Erik, would you say that you are thinking of this lens as a go to optic, even though you have some quality glass?

Agree with you 100%. The size and range makes it so versatile for handheld. However I'm not selling off any of my PL lenses. I did sell my Tokina AT-X Pro 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8. I didn't use it very much after purchasing other Lumix lenses over time. The Tokina was one of the first I purchased when i got the AF-100. I'm think of selling my Zeiss 85mm ZF because I have the CP.2 and the Lumix 14mm Pancake, but thats it. I'm keeping the 20mm since it's f1.7.

Use these most of the time.

Lovely work as always Eric, highlights looked so well maintained on the opening exterior shots. Panasonic should pay you to do demo days for them as I think all of your work just looks fabulous. The 101 was purring here. A+!

Very beautiful footage. Extremely well shot.
I know the Lumix 12-35 is more expensive and has a more flexible focal length range. But how does it compare with the Lumix 14mm 2.5 at that focal length?
Is it sharper and overall better? Because the 14mm is slightly faster, lighter and much cheaper.
If the difference is night and day I may get a 12-35. But I only have interest in the wide angle and 14mm is wide enough for me.

The 14mm is sharp and fast. If you don't need the zoom range then save your money. Lots of money. I haven't done a side by side but in general a prime beats a zoom for sharpness and overall image quality. Overall the 12-35 is pretty darn nice. One thing that has been bugging me is the weird blur you get when you zoom in. Wish it didn't do that because I do like to punch in sometimes for certain shooting styles.

Your very kind sir. Thanks.
