missing sound during relay recording

Hi There,

I got the Problem that if I use relay recording, the last second of the first clip has no audio.
Has anyone else got the same problem?
Same happens on sdhc cards if the filesize is limited to 4gb. Each Chunk misses the last second of sound. Picture works fine.

Greetings Björn

Do you mean relay recording from one slot to another when the card is full? Mostly used for long shoots when you use up the first card. Is that what you mean? I use dual slot recording with different codecs, but have not needed to do a relay recording. Unless I am misunderstanding you. Could you explain?

Yes you ar correct. I have long recording sessions and have to switch slots during recording. At the DVX200 this is called relay mode.
And as I said the first file from the first used slot is missing 1s of audio. The Track length is the same as the video track but the Audio is dissapearing from one frame to the other.
I have the assumption that the relay mode gets in conflict with the pre recording mode which I also used at the same time, but I had no chance to check this yet.

And the missing audio does not show up on the second card either? It is missing 100%? That is not good. I have not used relay recording, but I thought they were supposed to overlap, meaning record the ending of the clip on both cards so that there was no missing content.

Wonder if it is a setting or a hardware issue. But I am sure it is not supposed to lose a second of audio, otherwise it is not functioning properly. I wonder if the type of cards you are using could be a problem. Are they the same type and brand? Are you shooting HD, 4K? The cards might play a factor. Sorry I do not know more.

I'm going to second the notion that it might be the cards. I've not had this problem in Relay Mode. I use SanDisk Extreme SDXC cards. If your SDHC cards are UHS-I, check to make sure they are no less than SDR25 (25 MB/s) as that would be the minimum for recording DVX200's maximum FHD 200 Mb/s ALL-I. In fact, recording 4K requires a UHS-III class SDHC/SDXC card. To make things simple and give you the most flexibility, I strongly recommend against using anything slower than U3 class SD cards.

Hi Bj-Earn,

Just checking an old problem. Did you make sure you transferred ALL folders off the card to your hard drive before importing the files in your NLE?

Many people have had audio problems joining clips until they try this.. The audio joining info is contained in one of those 'extra' folders.

Worth a try.

Cheers,

Vaughan

Hi There,

I use SandDisk Extreme PRO Cards with U3 support and 95 MB/s I filmed in UHD 25p.
@ Vaughn I copied all files as you said but no difference.

As soon as I figure out more I'll let you know.
