Missing P2 data

Hi,

I shot an interview this morning with 2 4G P2 cards.
I was shooting DVCPro50, so it indicated 16 minutes capacity.
When it indicated 1 minute remaining, we took a pause to download the P2 data on the laptop.
The first card indicated 2.85G on the laptop...
normally, a full card indicates 3.53G.
The first part of the interview (on the P2 #1) was missing !!!!!

The P2 #2 indicated a normal 3.53 G, all the data was there.

The second portion of the interview ( P2 #1 and P2 #2 again) was OK.

SCARING...

what happened ? I never deleted any clip...
 
I wish I could offer you a good answer but instead I have to say... this is what scares me about the tapeless workflow! Not having a built-in tape backup gives us nothing to fall back on when these types of issues happen. I have the HVX200 myself and love it but there are serious gaps that need to be plugged when working tapeless and you need to wipe cards clean on the spot to reuse.
 
Go back and see if the clip will play back in the camera. If it does, its still there which is good.
If at first you don't succeed try again.

Today I downloaded 4 4g p2 cards without a hitch. 16 min of wonderfull footage.

good news, all the clips are there !

The HVX indicated 2 full P2s, but in fact, they were not. P2#1 was not full in fact, because it weighted only 2.85G.

This less problematic...
But i'm trying to figure why it indicated a full 4G P2 card when it contained only 2.85G.

At least, i have all my footage now. GREAT !
 
are you sure that your looking at the lights the right way.. for example, if you put p2 in the 2nd slot first, then the other one in the 1st slot, it will fill card #2 first then goto slot #1
 
You said the camera indicated 1 minute left. That means there's almost two minutes of free space on the card. When it says "0" minutes, that means you're at somewhere between 0:00 and 0:59 recording time left. So if it said "1 minute" left, that would mean 1:00 to 1:59 recording time left. So if you swapped right when it said "1 minute left", that would explain why so much of your card space went underutilized.
