Ah, just found the answer to my own question. BUT, if you are reading this because you have the same problem. Read on.
The Import Panasonic p2 option has been removed in FCP 6.0 and renamed to work with other media. It is now under > Import > Log and transfer.

Not so clever
Also Shift + Apple + 8 will bring up the window (the log and capture command is Apple + 8)
