Missing Ch-1 Audio in Avid

We are using the HVX-200 with the FS-100 and Avid Xpress HD. In the process of getting this new workflow completely figured out we came across a probem. It seems that the audio information on channel 1 in the MXF files is not transferring to Avid. We know the data is there because playback from the firestore sounds OK. Avid consistently shows Audio 1 as "Media Offline". We tested this process several times. Are we bypassing a step? Any ideas?

I have a similiar problem, and it appears the FS-100 tags the audios as "0" for ch1, "1" for ch 2 audio, "2" for ch 3 and "3" for ch 4. Well the problem with that is I need ch1 to be seen by AVID as ch1 NOT "ch 0".

I tried importing that "0" ch audio (which actually is ch1 audio) into AVID but it won't do it. Soooo, I have to use another edit program Vegas 8 pro which sees the 4 ch audios even though they are tagged as 0, 1, 2, 3.

Why can't FOCUS just tag the audios the way they are supposed to be tagged as 1,2,3,4 ?

Actually, the Firestore is doing that correctly. It should be 0,1,2,3. That is the same as the P2 file structure.
There are a few ways to fix this. The first and easy way is to click on the clip and relink it. This fixes it most of the time.

Or You can trash the databases.

Lastly, you will have to replace the individual audio mxf file with a copy of itself from the original audio mxf folder.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I just wanted to know if you could tells us with more detail how to do the steps you outlined in linking MXF audio files with Avid. I appreciate it.

to relink a clip - Select the Master Clip in the bin that has the Missing Ch-1 audio. Right click on it and choose Relink. A Relink dialoge box will appear. If you know what volume the imported media is on, you can select it from the "relink to media on volume" option. If not you can leave it on "all available drives". You want to select the drive that contains the Avid media folder where the MXF were first imported in Avid project. Then deselect the check boxes for "Relink only to media from current project" and "Match case when comparing tape names", then click OK.

If that doesn't work then you need to replace the individual ch 1 audio MXF file. To do this. Find out what the name of the master clip with the missing ch1 is. Lets say for ex. that the Master clip is named 0001K1. There are actually 5 files that make up that clip(1 video file - 0001K1.mxf and 4 audio files Ch1-4 respectively - 0001K100.mxf, 0001K101.mxf,0001K102.mxf, 0001K103.mxf).
Locate the ch1 file(0001K100.mxf) in your media drive of your project(it should be in the Avid Media folder>MXF>1 folder).
Now locate that same file(0001K100.mxf) in your original P2 MXF files( It will be in the Contents>Audio folder from whatever P2 volume). Then Just copy the file from original P2 MXF files and replace the file on the media drive. Then go through the relink procedure as outlined above for that Master Clip.
