Missing Audio File?

I can see failing to snag the "last clip" file when moving a contends folder, but how does an audio file just vanish?
I reshot the segment, but am curious about the audio file sprouting legs and walking like that.
An idea where it may have gone.

You're not really providing enough information to make an educated guess about your audio. What recording format and what camera are you using? Assuming HVX or HPX, if shooting variable frame rates (i.e over/undercranking) in 720p mode, then no audio is ever recorded.

While it's possible that dragging and dropping your mounted P2 contents can occassionally cause corruption to the data, I rather doubt that's what happened. I, and many others, drag and drop routinely without problems. Sure, P2CMS is probably safer.

More detail will be helpful: Mac or PC? what NLE are you using? Transfer via firewire or USB? Did you check to see if you had audio on the card prior to transferring?

Maybe can offer more assistance if you answer the above. Good luck !

Thanks for your interest, and my apoloties for not including more details.
Footage was shot with HPX 170, 720p-30p.
Wireless lav for audio.
Workflow is remove p2card, pop it in laptop PCMCIA slot, drag and drop to external HDD.
Reviewed the file on that drive and it does not include an audio file, which I'm not surprised at.
I too have bee dragging and dropping with no problems.
Running Vegas 9e on a PC.
Usual routine is grab the contents and last clip files and you have it all, or so I thought.
Still a mystery.
P2CMS? Got that on my laptop. Can't figure it out. Tutorial?
Dragging and dropping has been fail safe to this point.

Were you ever able to confirm that you had audio when the clip was played back in the camera? If so, then perhaps there was corruption with dragging the file. If you tried this and had no audio, my suspician is that you had a different frame rate other than 30 fps selected under the scene file setting.

If you shot 720/30p, then you must have the frame rate set to DEFAULT or 30p in the scene file. If it was anything else, then no audio would have been recorded. Is this a possibility?

P2CMS comes with a help file, but it's pretty easy to load P2 data into. I suggest you briefly read the instructions and give it a try.

Don't know about Vegas, but Premiere made me crazy one day when an errant click apparently disabled the audio channel I knew I had.
It's like looking for your keys.
