F55: Missing 4K files

F55, using newer XQD 120 gig card in Sony SxS adapter, both used maybe a time or two. Shot a mix of 4K and HD clips. Went to download them thru the producer's new MacBook pro onto an external drive, and part way through, the dub kicked out do to a "missing file" kind of error. We were able to copy the entire card (we think) over to her desktop, but couldn't do it again when a second card showed the same error. (Used an SBAC 20 card reader)

When I copied the clips over to my home computer using Catalyst Browse, it copied 19 of the 20 clips before showing a "file folder not found" error. The 4K clips that did copy show duration and data as expected, but would not play in Catalyst. (Catalyst does warn me that my system video card is not quite up to snuff, so that might be another issue)

However; when I put the card back into the camera, the 4K clips--which are at both the head and the end of the card--show up as offline; HD clips are there. On the 4 other cards shot later that day and the next, all HD and 4K clips show up just fine.

Is there some 4K metadata file in the XDRoot that has been corrupted and keeps the 4K shots from populating? Or is there some other workaround?

Thx!

Bill

Yeah, I did do an offload with Catalyst, as described above. Here's the weird part: after I dubbed all but one clip thru Catalyst onto the external drive, I sent a copied 4K file (which does not now show up as online from the card in the camera) to a friend, and he was able to open it just fine in Premiere. Go figure.

I also tried to go to the "update media" queue in the camera, but that action item was greyed out. No idea what's going on here.

If you can get the camera to play the files, then record the camera output to an external recorder asap.
I had something similar happen to me a couple of years ago with an XQD (G series) card. At first the original camera (an FS7) would still play the card. Then the next day it would no longer play the files. Card was sent in and determined to be bad -- they never were able to restore any of the data from it.
