Missing 4 scene file settings

Hi, my HMC152 is missing scene files 2-5. The only actual scene files available are 1 and 6. When i switch the dial from 1 to 2 nothing changes, the scene file menu even stays the same name, same with 3,4,5. When i switch down from 6 to 1, the all the switch positions display Cine V till i get to 1. (even in the scene file menu, switch position 4 displays as 1. Weird.

I have done a camera reset in menu/otherfunctions/int as well as a scene file reset.

Anyone know whats going on??

Thanks Ian

Thanks for the reply, as stated in the OP i did a full factory user reset, also did just a scene file reset and menu reset. Still no luck.

Any ideas Barry, also the scene files on your CD of the HMC150 have a folder marked HMC152 but these files give an error when loading.

Any help appreciated.

Also will a firmware upgrade possibly fix this missing default scene file problem?????????

Cheers Ian

What you're describing doesn't make a lot of sense -- I mean, it's acting like it's not changing at all until you get to scene file six? Not even the names are changing? Perhaps your switch is busted?

Have you gone in and manually changed the settings in the various scene files to see if they're changing?

I'd suggest doing a menu init to reset everything to default first before assuming anything's broken; restore it to the factory initial state and then let's see what happens.

Barry, yes i have done all of the 3 resets as posted in my original post.
Thats's exacly what it's doing, not changing till it gets to F1 or F6.

Only the names flash on the LCD in Pos 1 and Pos 6.
In the scene file menu, only F1 or F6 is displayed no matter what actual position the switch is physically in.

If i change the scene file in switch position 3, it changes the F1 or F6 scene file.

I know this is weird almost like a faulty switch, but i don't think so.

Should i try a full firmware update??

I doubt firmware has anything to do with it, it sounds like you have some manner of hardware problem.

Nothing would be hurt by upgrading the firmware, and it's certainly the cheapest (free) option, but if I were you I'd be making an appointment with the service center.

This new cam is now developing major problems. As well as the above I now can not enter Playback mode and the lights and playback/PC/ standby buttons don't work.

Back it goes, only 2 months old and used half a dozen times. But i luv the cam.

Well, in a way, that's good news -- we've at least identified that it was indeed a hardware problem, and you should be good as new shortly.

Barry can you confirm the scene files on the CD work with HMC152.
The scene files on your CD of the HMC150 have a folder marked HMC152 but these files give an error when loading. Also the folder structure and names of the HMC152 folder is different than the initialized card. ??

Can you shed any light on this??

Cheers Ian

I have had people in Australia download and install them, so yes they should work.

What are you saying is different? I'm looking at the files on the CD right now, and they're in the PRIVATE/MEIGROUP/PAVCN/SBG/P2SD directory, just like for the HMC150 and HMC151.

How does that differ from what you're seeing?

You should be able to format an SD card, copy the PRIVATE directory over from the CD onto the SD card, and then plug it in the camera and load the scene files, and it should all just work.

Yes. The folder structure on the Panasonic initialized card is Private/AVCHD/AVCHD TN/ BDMV/Stream etc.

Almost identical to a Canon initialized card and that is exactly how it is shown in the official Panasonic Manual page 109.

My guess your structure is for a P2 card.
