FS7: minimum mac for transcoding xavx to prores

I am thinking of buying a used mac to transcode xavc clips to prores. Which (old) mac can do the job or what are the minimum specs to do the job smooth?

prores scales almost linearly with CPU cores for a given clock speed, it's very well optimised for multi cores. More cores more encoding speed.

Buy Compressor from the Mac App Store, job's a good 'un.

You use compressor to transcode?

Not for XAVC to Prores because FCPX is so fast with XAVC I don't need to. But I do a lot of transcoding with Compressor particularly to HAP codec for realtime video installations.

You could just buy Footage Studio 4k and do it on your PC. www.acrovid.com.
Prores, DNXHD, Cineform.
Great utility. Only one I've found that will preserve camera original timcode across the transfer for AVC codecs.

I tested it before but I will gave it a second try. First impression: it works. though transcoding takes a lot of time. (more than 2 minutes for 1 minute xavx-i 4k file).
And the DNxHQ codec misses.

Looks promising but have to test some more.
