minimalist support that turns DSLR into more of an HVX form factor?

looking for a simple, handheld solution that transforms the DSLR form factor to one more like the DVX / HVX / HPX

a cage with a hand strap? an eyepiece extender? maybe a shoulder post that presses up against your shoulder. it just seems counter-intuitive and unnecessary to take tiny cameras and give them bulky, over-the-shoulder style rigging.

I found this, which is sort of what I'm talking about.

itd be nice if it was from a reputable company though...

any ideas?

Get ready to open your wallet...

Basically it starts simple - attach DSLR to a shoulder pad, then you realizes that you want a monitor for more reliable focus pulling - so youneed to mount it somehow, then outside you want amattebox where you can use ND filters - for that you need rod support and baseplate. Then you realize that all that stuff weight quite a lot so you add counter weight...

I have 2 cam bodies.
One for pimped out with a cage (to protect HDMI port), baseplate, 15mm rods, Genus mattebox (with set of NDs), monitor + arm + arm for hand held work, counterweight for handheld...
One for run&gun with just Zacute viewfinder and Sigh-Ray vari ND for outside shots.

I've played with this issue a lot. My solution's been a lightweight shoulder mount setup with a viewfinder loupe. I have a follow focus on the rig, but when I attach the shoulder mount to the rails, I have my left hand on the left handle, and my right hand sort of cradles the setup under the baseplate - my index finger rests on the focus gear (I leave the FF connected since I like the damping). May seem a little odd, but it works very well for me, and I've spent entire days shooting like that. Sometimes I add a 2 lb weight at the shoulder, sometimes not. It's gotten very 2nd nature to me, and I like the feel of the footage I get that way. I never use a "real" video camera that way, I don't like the handheld look as much as the DSLR.
