I've read about leaving tapes in camera leaving harmful residue on heads and of course the whole mixing tape problem.
I don't have a cheap capture camera to use for my footage from tape, and I'm editing at my college's editing lab. I'd rather not put time on my DVX heads, so what I wanted to do was take out one of their cheaper miniDV cams and simply use that to upload all my footage.
My concern: it's obviously taken out by a lot of students. Is there anyway tape residue from the cameras heads can rub off on my tape and cause problems? Also, I might put these tapes back in my DVX at some point. So I'm a bit worried that I'll be transferring dirt or other artifacts from this cheap camera head onto my DVX.
