MiniDV tape passes?.

How many passes are you all using on your MiniDV tapes? What I mean by passes is, how many times are you shooting on the same tape before you take it out of rotation? So far, I have just been shooting on one tape till it fills up then I start on another tape. I am not sure why I decided to that. At work, I shoot on Digital SX tapes and I can do like 100 passes before I get any dropouts.

some people say a miniDV tape can handle 3 passes without a problem. But I don't know why anyone would save on tape and overwrite his own material, no matter how bad it is...
