mini35 for the HVX?

I can't wait to get my hands on the HVX - wondering if there's a mini35 on the way, or if the existing stuff will fit?

Sorry if this has been flogged to death already. A quick yes or no to either will suffice if that's the case :)

Given the drastic change in size of the HVX when compared to the DVX i doubt the current mini35's will fit it. These devices are built pretty specifically to each camera. So i imagine mini 35 will be putting out a new HVX compatible adapter shortly following the release of the mini35.

If you're looking for cheaper alternates that might be available sooner there's always Redrock's M2 or the G35 adapter which has yet to see the light of day although the maker's promise a release before the end of 2005 i have learned not to hold my breath. It seems to be a general consensus on the guerilla35 boards that the G35 will be functional with the HVX for a price in the range of a $1000. The M2 is somewhere in the $500-700 range depending on the package.

I thought I'd mention the other player out there with a 35mm imager. The MPIC, custom built by Dan Diaconu.

I have one on order, with mount and rails, follow focus, and gears to gear up Nikon lenses and should be in my hands next month when the HVX arrives. :) :)

if you could post some footage when you have your rig setup. I'm sure i'm not the only one in th 35mm-HVX market eager to see what it can look like.

There's almost unquesttonably going to be a Mini35 adapter made for the HVX. The thing about the mini35 is that it's really sold as two separate parts -- the main unit, and the camera-specific adapter. So an existing mini35 will work with the HVX as soon as they develop the adapter to fit to the HVX. Adapter kits are not inexpensive, but in the grand scheme of mini35 pieces, the adapters are a lot less expensive than buying the full mini35 kit.

All of you speak about Mini35 adapter...why not other brands - equal expensive @Mini35 range - like Movietube?

But if only to rent 'cause its price, at least, +/- $10,000 isn't it?

So and concerning a purchase, why not other option(s) like M2 (micro35) or even others like SG35 or letus35(.com) or cine-one(.com) or magicine(.com) or the best on paper (read, test footage): Guerilla35 (the TRUE indy spirit)?

Sorry :embarasse my friend, I didn't have seen...yet your post - you are on the way... - because this industry/m o n e y submission irritates me , indeed!

:)

Totally with you on the money issue. I'm not going to risk quality for a cheaper price tag. But these boards and others have taught me that good or maybe even excellent quality can be found through cheap (non-brand name) alternatives.
