These were a couple of projects I completed over the summer for a local church ... for free. Well ... a nice fat tax write-off/donation, at least. The church had an idea to help a family that had some very unique challenges, and who had been passed up by ABC's Extreme Make Over - Home Edition.
They put out a call for help with the first video, then wrapped it up with the second. A DVD was produced, packaged & duplicated as gifts for all the businesses that got involved & donated time/resources. It ended up being a pretty rewarding project for all involved.
Before the critiques start rolling in, let me do a disclaimer: I know the lighting is crap, as it was all natural/what was available (cramped church stage/lights, in the subject's home with no additional lighting, etc.) ... as of now, I at least have some cheap work lights which would have even improved the quality substantially. Also, the mics were wireless jobs the church had on hand to use ... in the second video, since one of the garbage mics (you'll hear some crackle in the first video) was completely out, we clipped the one good mic in-between the two subjects.
All footage shot on the DVX100a in 24PA, but there are some shots where I was unavailable to shoot & let the church borrow it to capture shots (when they arrived home, etc.). I feel my strengths have been on the editing/story telling side, and I'm now working on improving the image acquisitions aspect of it (camera, lighting, sound, etc.). The short we just shot for the zombie fest is a drastic improvement ... can't wait for the festival to begin.
Okay, so here are the links:
First video - invitation to get involved: www.eefilm.com/impact/eastpark/stewartvideo.wmv
A quicktime file is available for the above (before I knew about IMA 4:1 for audio): www.eefilm.com/impact/eastpark/stewartvideo.mov
Second video - Conclusion/Wrap up/Thanks: www.eefilm.com/impact/eastpark/stewartfinal.wmv
