Mini DV Tape Question

I use Panasonic Mini DV (AY-DVM63MQ) tape and am confused about proper use and care etc. Do I always need to rewind the tape when I'm done shooting. How much back & forth movement is too much. I'm pretty new to the camcorder and generally don't re use any tape but am concerned about advancing and rewinding during a given shoot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
During a shoot I never rewind tapes, but you will have to rewind when you go to capture. Honestly I've never had an issue with rewinding fast forwarding, and I captured thousands of hours of footage over the years. DV tapes are pretty rugged, you really have to treat them bad in order for them to crap out on you.
