Mini DV tape deck

so i looked on the b and h website for one, and they are there, but they're insanely expensive. does anyone know where i could find a cheap, or cheapo one that works? im kinda desperate and my camera's tape heads dont like my using them as a tape deck. why r these things so damn expensive?!

The consensus for CHEAP is to buy a new or second hand CHEAP Mini_DV cam and use that.

Well...define expensive. You can pick up a Sony GV-D1000 for about a grand. That's cheap to me when you're saving wear on a $5000.00 camera.

haha, well ur in a totally different price range than me. ive been saving for months just to try to get a dvx, and something that just records video to ur computer makes absolutely no sense when its above $200, which would take some saving up for. i just really dont understand y these things r so damn expensive, it doesnt make sense.

im looking into the cheapo camcorder option though...

LOL,
it makes perfect sense. It's a mtter of buying a professional product, at a price that is a certain percentage higher than it costs to make it. Simple economics, and true for every other product on the planet.

Glad you liked the cheap MINI_DV option though.
Have fun.

Just for arguments sake... I think Mini DV is the most common option for consumer cameras. yet there are just a few models of dv decks out on the market. I would think that as more people purchase cameras they would also be more decks produced... hence drive the price down. I'm not really talking Pro decks just consumer level. If they can sell a DV camera for $300 and up why chant that make a deck for the same price range.
I know I use a Canon z60 dv camera. it works great and i got it refurb for 200... great deal... Even comes with a monitor(aka LCD screen)!!!!
Any coments...
