Hello all, I had a problem when previewing some recording that I did on my LCD. WHen playing back, the footage appeared to have several blue horizontal bars going across the image. HAs anyone experienced this and should I send it in for service?

I had the same problem with a DVX100a that I rented...I ran a head cleaning tape through it and it was fine. The camera that I own has been flawless....if you don't already...be sure to use only Panasonic MQ tapes mixing tapes (wet vs. dry lube) will cause residue to collect on the heads. Hopefully in yoru case it is only a playback issue. If the head cleaining tape doesn't do the trick refer to the "How to Clean the recording heads" thread in this forum.

Re: Mini-blind effect when previewing on LCD...

hey thanks for the reply. I have been using only Panasonic Master tapes. The white kind, just like the one that came with the unit. I have less than 3 hours on this thing and that had me worried – didn't think it would get dirty after three hours. So, would an Air-duster do the trick, or is that unsafe?

Yea after only three hours you wouldn't expect the heads to get dirty. You may have just been unlucky and the odd speck of dust landed on the head. I did a lot of reading on this forum prior to getting my camera and now I am pretty anal aboutkeeping the camera in it's case when not in use, not leaving the cassette door open etc.

To answer your question, a blast of air shouldn't hurt it, but I would still reccomend the head cleaning tape. There seems to be a lot of talk around here about this type of thing so you might want to read (if you haven't already) some of the other posts.

There is always the slim chance you got a bad camera...you never know...
