OK. I've been comparing these two heads and they both seem to run about the same money in kit form. There's maybe $200 difference. They are both rated at up to 20 pounds.
I have been looking at the Solo DV20 Carbon Fiber system. I'm used to these types of legs (no spreader), since I'm from a photography background. They could also do double duty as a fairly light weight rig for hiking. I can use it for my spotting scope, for stills and for video.
Sachtler seems to maintain it's resale value a bit more and have a better name, so I'm wondering if it will also perform a bit better. My other concern with each is its ability to work under light loads. It will mostly be used with full rails, matte box, FF, monitor, etc. but if hiking, I'll just use the camera and lens hoods and I've heard that if the load is too light, that can be as problematic as having one that's too heavy. Opinions please!
