military camera technology

Cool stuff but we are losing our privacy. Also can you imagine the stuff they have that they won't even talk about!!

It is not just what the governments have. (many governments have similar technology they use to a greater or lesser extent) They at least are supposed to be under some sort of control. The worry is that at the lower end of things, eg http://www.draganfly.com/ and numerous others, almost anyone can have the capability of aerial surveillance that 15 years ago only governments had.

Never mind state security but the local newspapers, rival businesses, neighbours, local political rivals and the plain nosey and voyeuristic now all have assess to remote ground and airborne cameras. Whilst the CIA and NSA etc will drown in billions of terabytes of data and are not going to bother with you. Unless you are doing something they are specifically looking for! The more local watchers are more likely to take note of quite minor things. For example a female family member sunbathing topless in the back garden is not going to even be noticed by the NSA (they have seen it 100's of thousands of times before) but the local pervert with his "toy" UAV will have the 10 seconds of blurred images of your wife/daughter on youtube in under an hour and be telling all his mates. So by the time you go shopping in town two days later half the town has seen it.

So the high end stuff is interesting technically. The problem is who will have access to this level of kit in 10 -15 years time?
