Honestly, I didn't figure it would take very long. If I had the extra cash at the moment, I would've jumped on that deal, too.

What are you looking to get next?

I'm going to actually downgrade my 416 to an AT4073a and take the extra cash from both mics to get a Sanken or something like that...

I am not a pro, I just like mics, so I want to continue to play around

The 416 is a little too narrow for me and my level of experience. The pattern is so tight that I end up having a problem getting the most clear sound out of it. I need something that is a little more forgiving even if harms my overall sound quality.

I think if I was trying to do sound for a living then I would want to keep it, but I am making little short films, and bad ones at that. It was nice to have a 416, run some tests, but the off axis is really strong, so I just needed to say it's not the mic for me. The A/B tests with the AT4073a are pretty similar, AT is not as natural, hotter, and more forgiving, obviously not a 816 killer, but it is good enough to give me good sound.

The 835 is a good shotgun, long, but with a 4073a coming, I don't need it. Hypers are my thing, I love my AKG and I love the Oktavas. I'd like a Schoeps, but once again, I'm not a pro.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my Oktava. If people decide to start paying me for my flicks, then I'll start paying for my mics and get a Schoeps MK41.

I think the CK69 is for the 300 series preamp ... I ALMOST purchased that combo, but instead went with the 400 series that uses the CK63 Hyper.

In the states, that combo would cost about 2x as much as the 300 series, coming in around $1K. MattinSTL turned me onto RVACanada.com, and I just paid for the exact same thing (400 series - can't recall the exact preamp number - w/CK63 Hyper) for about $620 U.S.!

With that, I even had room to be able to get the pistol grip/boom shock mount w/screen, etc.

yeah, I've got the c480b preamp for it. I've actually got an extra set I'm trying to trade off. I've got a thread in the forum

Completely... C'mon ya'll I'm trying to sell another mic here

I love the AKG line, I have the blueline and really like it.
