Hi, I am just wondering if other people experience this with their DVX100, the on camera microphone is kind of loose a little bit, when you try to move it a little, does anyone have a slight loose mic on their DVX100?

Please share your experience, this worries me, I love my DVX

Thank you very much
All the Best!

Re: microphone moving

If it's becoming a problem for you, wrap a little gaffer tape around the mic to make it a tighter fit.

Re: microphone moving

It appears to be mounted with some sort of rubber shock mount to it, so yes, it can be wiggled slightly.

Re: microphone moving

There are two sets of screws in the mount - one set which mounts to the camera, the other which connects the circular mike bracket to 'camera connector' bracket. On my DVX, the connection from the 'mike to camera' bracket worked loose & I started getting a lot of wobble. After tightening these 'outer' screws, it was like new. (Just a little wobble as Barry described.)

Re: microphone moving

please clarify, is your camera mounted to the factory bracket or to a third party shock mount?

Re: microphone moving

Dima, when I was talking about two sets of screws, I'm talking about Panasonics mount for an external mic. I've used the Senheiser ME66 so regularly I've forgotten there is a 'built-in' on-camera mic. Mine does move around slightly. My reference about the screws is for Panasonic's extra mic mount. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: microphone moving

i was confused too, i just re-read his message.

my on camera mic wiggles a little bit, wish i could take the damn thing off.

i just added a mini-frezzi on camera light and i am thinking of trying the on camera add-on mount, when i tried it before i could hear the slightest noise transmitted (physically) through the body of the camera, and any zooming would produce a noise.

i don't zoom anymore but i'm still concerned about vibrations, but i sure could use another on camera mounting point.

Re: microphone moving

I believe the on-camera mic is supposed to wiggle, in the same way that the adaptor for a shotgun is not really solid as well. I belive it will help to isolate (although not by much) some camera handling noise or something like that.
