Microphone holder on HVX

I have a question, i have an HVX, and i vant purchase a high quality directional condenser microphone, Neumann KMR 81i . The question is: does the micropone holder supports microphones witha diameter of 21mm, or only standard sizes (19mm)?

Due to the flexible shock mounting material and the clamp on design, it should easily handle a 21mm, even slightly larger.

I picked up the KMR81 and tried it on the HVX mount, but it did not seem to fit too well. So, I picked up the Rode Mic SM3.

This seem much more secure.

I really do not know how the KMR will perform in the HVX mount, but I did not want to risk it. It just felt too flimsy.

yes.. the HVX mount is a bit squishy.. it's got screws on the side though so I'm sure you could work some other option.

i got my hvx used, and it didn't come with a mic mount. does anyone know where I can get one?

Hi Satadioz

I found that the Panasonic mic mount didn't really work for me so I looked around for a mic holder for my HVX and in the end decided to make one. I made the base plate from steel and attached a Lightwave Audio mount to it. It works great and is quick and easy to attach the mic.

I may have another go at the design to give a little more finger room between the mount and the camera handle. I want to route the cable better too.

The foam underneath is so that I can attach my Audio Ltd 2020 radio receiver with velcro straps.

The Mic is a Sanken CS3e which is great but sometimes a bit too directional.

The mount holds the mic far enough back that it cannot enter the shot when on wide angle.

The mount is a bit 'rough-and-ready' but when the mic is on you can't see it. It is an exercise in function over form. I also didn't want to use the hot shoe as I have a camera light which I often use.

I know it's not what you are looking for but I thought it may interest forum members and hopefully get people to show how they have adapted things to fit mics to the HVX.

I'm sure there is a cool looking functional manufactured mount out there somewhere but I've yet to find it.
