microphone height extender?....

This is probably the most awkward post I'll ever make but here it goes..

I have the MC-70 shotgun mic that BH suggests for the hmc. I just recently received a windcutter wind protector for it.

When I attach the mic + windcutter with the microphone mount that comes with the hmc, the very ends of a few of the hairs are visible in the lens when zoomed all the way out.

I've seen camera set-ups where the microphones are mounted way above the camera. What exactly do you buy so that you can mount the microphone higher? And for the hmc of course.

Thanks.. and I hope that mess of a post made sense.

Just get some nylon spacers from home depot. You probably only need 1/4" to 1/2".
No need to make your mic a foot higher than needed (IMHO).

Not sure if you ever came up with a solution or not on this. But I have a twin mount that will allow you to mount a mic in a shock mount and a radio receiver together, and still leave your top shoe available. In addition the radio receiver will be kept vertical, the way it should be.
Please take a look at www.thej-rod.com.
