Microphone for HPX 300

Anyone have suggestions for a good/affordable camera mic for the HPX 300? Is the Panasonic mics the way to go? are they good? Are their better ones in the same price range? Just looking for something to pick up ambient noise... I would use other mics (wired and wireless) for specific shoots.... So, just needs to be a fairly decent mic...

I took the ambience-mic from my old Sony PD150. Works fine. Im sure you can find one or a similar one used in the internet.
I think the recommended Panasonic ones are too expensive...
Or you take a Rode NTG-1, thats not too expensive too, but its more shotgun and less ambience.

Hi there. This might help you out: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=180768

I did end up getting the Audio-Technica AT875R and it's been a great performer for a great price. Do a search on the internet and see who offers the best deal. Also, the right-angle cable from B&H listed in the thread works very nicely. It's a little bit long, but doesn't get in the way and can be tucked up around the lens.

Thanks... Is anyone having any issue with the servo noise of the lens on the HPX 300 beeing picked up by the Panasonic or AT mics?

I use the audio tech mics too for camera and my radio boom, not too much servo problems and they come with rubber O rings to isolate them from the larger cam mount.

They are virtually the same as the sony Z7 and S270 mics that I have been very impressed with and I have a cut down rode WS6 fitted to mine:

I have an AT 4073a, and I can hear the servo noise on fast zooms. That mic runs a bit hot compared to others, and at slower speeds it's not a big issue. I use it for a lot of live action, and I've been struggling to get proper levels in changing environments.

One of the few things I like about the stock lens is the zoom speed.

What do you like about the zoom speed? To me it seems rather slow.

What are you comparing it too Cees?

I have a JVC110 and a HPX200. Those are much slower IMO. The 300 at full speed slightly warps the picture and engages jello vision.

Same problem as me - hearing through the matte box!:)

I use a Rode NTG 3 - its pretty long but very dual purpose for bomm use too. Very bassy. Very impressed for well under Sennheiser 416 money.

I have been extremely pleased with the Rode NTG-1. My Neumann is a great shotgun ffor the boom, but the NTG-1 is perfect for a camera mount.
