Microphone Experiences/Recommendations

I request recommendations for the best audio recording solutions for the HMC-150. I'm assuming this question also applies to professionals with field/studio experience using the DVX and/or HVX.

1) Is there a "must have" mic to get the best out of the HMC?

2) Have you or someone you know devised any very successful solutions with microphones for the various typical filming situations (interviews, small and large events, dialogue, etc.)?

Lastly, any thoughts on or experiences with the Panasonic AG-MC200G microphone and/or the Panasonic MC-70 ? (is one better than the other?)

I very much appreciate insights and experiences you can share.

See the Audio forum.

There's nothing special about the HMC150 that would make mics work better or worse on it than on other camcorders.

For a shotgun mic, the Audio-Technica AT875R seems the best sound per dollar. But if you listen closely to the tests within the sticky " If you are considering a shotgun/cardioid...", you will find a few that sound better. I really like the Neumann KMR81i, but it's over one thousand dollars more.

I'm sure you'll find in that section some good advice miking different situations. Or you might pick up a book (gasp!). Audio recording is a mature and established field, and books written even decades ago still hold true.
