Micro Gimbal for GH4, BMPCC, A7s - $699 USD

If sony did their homework, the RX100 should match great with an a7S, for example, since they both have the same gamma and color profiles. Slomo limited to 2s, yes (I don't have one, but I'm almost sure, at least for 240p).
a6000 vs 5N, it depends on how much weight you put on the codec (XAVC-S is A LOT better than the old H.264 codec) and whether you need an EVF.

Picked up a used a6000 for 450 with the kit lens and some extra batteries. Price was a good steal in my opinion so I jumped on it for now. Worst case I resell it and purchase something that works better for me in the future, but I know I can get the job done with this for now. I had the old Nex 5n before and it was okay but the a6000's code seems much better so id rather spend the few extra bucks there for now plus it seems like the a6000 has a slightly better cheap case for underwater work compared to the nex 5n (been wanting to experiment with underwater work for a while now).

I've worked with this exact setup. One thing you will need to be aware of is the kit lens pops out when turned on. You will need to balance your Nebula like this. When you turn the a6000 off, the lens will contract and the camera will fall backwards and be unbalanced again.

Do what I did - buy the 16mm 2.8mm. Its about $220/£200.

Oh good point! thanks for the tip.

Just got my came single yesterday, here's my quick and dirty test, no post stabilization.

I definitely need to work on my skills. I used the Voigtlander 17.5mm which is rated as too heavy for this gimbal, I don't know if that's the reason or I just need to learn to walk smoother but there are definitely jitters. Focus is all over the place, definitely wish there was some way of making a wireless follow focus work (maybe I just need to leave it in auto?). Adjusting the PID settings does seem like a must, I hope they can think of some solution for adjusting the settings in a way that doesn't risk ruining the thing. Also, having 3 or 4 PID setting presets that you can switch back and forth from on the fly would be great so that you could easily switch lenses in the field. Regardless, it's a lot of fun to use and I can definitely see the potential of this product once I can use it right.

Working on getting the nebula 4000 balanced with teh a6000 and kit lens (balncing it while its turned on.) Keep having issues when I pan left where the camera starts to tilt into a dutch angle so I have to figure out how to fix that as it seems balanced. Also need to figure out how I get access to the PID settings and play around with that since I bought my nebula used and it probably has some presets I don't know about in it.

You've probably seen this already, but thought it worth putting into this thread, though it is not a gimbal

This system can't deal with parallax changes in the image you are recording, and I imagine you are going to see some image distortion from the interpolated images it creates, and then there is the whole having to crop in to the image in order to stabilize it.

This would be a great system if you are trying to film on the sly and don't want to be noticed, or when a gimbal system is just to big or heavy to deal with, but I am suspect of the final image quality you will get with this set-up. I guess I would have to see lots of high res samples with smooth motion to be convinced.

I think it looks interesting, although there is a fundamental risk associated with not really knowing that you nailed the shot while you are on location.

However, the requirement of a composite video genlock signal is a moronic design choice in a world of HDMI and HDSDI cameras.

It is obvious that they considered the "low hanging fruit" to be the GoPro segment of the market -- which makes sense.

The other thing is that there is a real absence of detail regarding the post processing stabilization software:

- What input wrappers it supports
- What input codecs it supports (selfishly, I doubt XAVC-S)
- What resolutions it supports
- What frame rates it supports
- What output wrappers it supports
- What output codecs it supports
- How long the processing takes

I suspect v.2 of this product will be much more interesting, albeit with the same fundamental risk of not being sure you actually captured the shot.

Edit: Bullet point clarification

When will people learn? This is exactly why I keep harping on about my experience. I feel I need to warn others. Worst customer service EVER.

Hello, our engineer has reply you. Hope it can help you to slove the problem.
Support offered me the option: Say that if a very long time for me to send them a Nebula for replacement, I can pay a small price for a new one, and they will send me the device. I agreed. The cost is really small. If they send me the new Nebula, it will be very good.

Wieldy 3 axis, $500 handheld gimbal

Here is another gimbal, at least I think it is another one! This thread is so long now that I can't be sure it isn't buried in here somewhere, so apologies if it is.

$500 3 axis available on e-bay. Don't know anything about it, but thought it should be thrown into the mix -

I'm looking for a new single hand gimbal. Been disappointed by the current crop. Why can't these manufacturers get it together? If you want my money, it has to be light weight, no fuss clean design, ergonomic, tool less, long battery life, inverted mode, 32bit, encoders. Not much specs available for either the 4200 Lite or Wieldy. Waiting for hands-on reviews.
