Micro Gimbal for GH4, BMPCC, A7s - $699 USD

Got mine today, spent a long time balancing, was a bit concerned when it tilted to the right and stayed there when first turned on- but after doing the "5 pushes of the button" thing to calibrate it, it straightened out and flew well. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.

FYI: Never push the button more than 5 times, and do not hold it down- can temporatily "brick" the unit- but see the following post for clarification.

The Nebula "listens" for 1,2,3,4,5 and Long Press of the button. From the factory, I believe it's set to run "Profile 1" with 1 press, "Profile 2" with 2 presses, "profile 3" with 3 presses, "Calibration" for 4 presses "Gryo calib" for 5 presses, then "Reset" for long press--which means wiping all the settings from the board, which is a Basecam board NOT made by Filmpower. It only bricks the unit in that it is no longer calibrated to work (through software you can re-calibrate it). It is NOT bricked forever. Keep in mind that the board has no idea what kind of gimbal motors/armature/camera is attached to it so Filmpower does those calibration for you, knowing the gimbal's structure and the expected camera weight.

Filmpower just reponded to an email I sent with "profiles" so I can make sure I can get it back to factory default. So they are trying to do a better support job now :)

It's true, long presses or multiple press removes the Settings data. Same problem can occur by hitting the 'default' button on SImpleBGC software. But Filmpower can email you the profiles, and they can then be reloaded really easily. Remembering of course to 'white' them back to the board.

M. Gilden is correct, there is definate post-stabilisation on the paris video. Still a great video, and theres nothing wrong with using post - stabilisation, but when posting a video to show what a gimbal can do, it's really not nice too see people adding post-stabilisation. It's just a false representation of what the gimbal can do.

I do believe though that with enough knowledge and tweaking, the gimbal can be made smooth enough to not require anything in post. Dave Dugdale proved that in his videos.

Dont add post-stabilisation, just work harder on fine-tuning!

New Nebula4000 User long-press button is 'inverse YAW motor' for up-set-down mode.
Former user can change the setting via PC/Mac softwear.

Has anyone shot a video on replacing the battery? Mine dies after 20mins so Filmpower sent a replacement, but it looks like I need to find someone handy with a soldering iron to fit it.

This happens to be some really beautiful GH4 footage. Only thing is I can tell its been stabilized in post, especially at the 1:05 mark, where the end of the tunnel moves in a bizarre way.

This video is no post stablize. You can check the down corner of the video to find step wave all over the video. Also the 1:05 with step wave.

Shot some test footage today- no slowmo, no post stabilization. Some bobble when walking to deal with in settings, for some reason is much smoother when doing a "sideways dolly" than when walking straight forward.

Amazing how quickly you can grab a shot with this. Heard that train (doing about 40mph) a half mile away, got in my truck, flew to the crossing, got out, turned on the camera and stabilizer and got the end of the train.

At 01:05 it's clearly visible it's been extra stabilised in post, you can see the entire building in the background deform and there is a sudden jump forward as well which indicates a zoom in post, I have seen this kind of odd behaviour many times on stabiliser plugins.

Printed piece for Nebula 4000

Samuel~
If you find that this is a viable option, I'd love to try it out too. Might you be able to print another after testing?
Thanks,
Ira
P.S. What arm are you using in the picture?

Nice shot in U.S.
You may feel the "motion style" of Nebula 4000. It same as the Paris video. If add the post stabilization, the style will changed.

K) Next I get Filmpower on facebook and A Filmpower rep by the username Windboyz seemingly accusing me (and others) of being in collusion with DJI and simply trying to tell everyone that the product is no good to protect DJI from a rival company. WTF???? Some quotes - "he ROTATE DELIBERATLY to make the wire die" "Hi! DJI guys from CHINA, Don't make ROMOURS for Nebula again......" "The second circuit broken clearly human make it die in special way"

P) I have also now just noticed that I have been blocked/banned from the Nebula 4000 Lite Usergroup on Facebook where I was talking about my experiences.

Clivemcl I've had a similar experience with them. They call me DJI guy, or something like that. They seem to think I'm some enemy/spy from another gimbal manufacturer, or I know not what. If one day we learn they're 13-year-olds I wouldn't be the least surprised.

Same experience as Clive, bl00dy awful, money now refunded by NF, and a request to return - it's in the post. Also blocked from Nebula 4000 User Group. Very odd but clearly not an impartial User Group, just one requiring positive posts only. Shame as some users had been very helpful

Meh, this in-line with Chinese companies (and governments). You need to give them lots of face and re-phrase your criticisms else they'll take it very personally. It's pretty much an example of cultural clash.

No one has to, or will, re-phrase their criticisms for Filmpower. It's up to Filmpower if it wants to be a premiere gimbal brand. I couldn't care if the product is Chinese or Swahili. The company with the best tech, marketing, finances, (and lucky) etc. will win the business. The Nebula is a cool product, but it is FAR from ready. Filmpower should read this book, and study it closely.

If Filmpower is making enemies of first-movers it is ITS CULTURAL problem. Just because you build a better mouse-trap doesn't mean people will beat a path to your door ;)

It seems to me that many people are beating a path to their door. Even in the US with its supposed advanced tech, early adopters of any products from anywhere can often get caught out with early development issues. It's par for the course. Cultural or not, the product has been a "game changer". There is so much excitement about what this product can potentially do that I hope they do survive and improve. But you need to understand that not all societies are based on Western standards of etiquette and behavior (and in many cases thank goodness!).

They are, because it is the only device like it - so far. Mine worked for only two days, can't say much about it here for obvious reasons.FP is effectively squelching negative comments. Really torn here because I absolutely love the device when it works.

Edit: FP offered to repair my unit, will be sending it off soon and will report back

Exactly - they are the only ones providing this kind of device. And in my opinion, they are becoming too cocky about it. You just CANNOT neglect customer care. Right now, they get the sales because they are the only ones. If DJI/Freefly/Defy/Movi/Besteady decide to follow suit (which I expect), then they fall into the same trap as all the other unknown chinese companies.

Potential customers will then ask 'Will I take the risk with the unknown company and save money??'. Those customers will come on here and other places, and the negative comments could well prove fatal for Filmpower's selling power and sales will not be as strong as they are now for this limited period of time.

It IS a great product, and they ARE the only company producing it. That is why, despite Filmpower's refusal to supply me with a third replacement, I used the refunded money and bought myself a third Nebula from the UK distributor. I suppose Filmpower will be expecting this 'DJI Engineer' to 'deliberately' break his third one now and leave false negative comments on here! lol, but so far my third Nebula has not broken (thankfully).

Not saying you have to, just giving my opinion that's been derived from way too much experience.

But you need to understand that not all societies are based on Western standards of etiquette and behavior (and in many cases thank goodness!).
So you'd rather trade openness and customer service in exchange for the current Chinese culture of valuing money and face over civility? It's a toxic culture in the end.

I know right? The terrible behaviour here hasn't put me off from the thought of getting one. I'm still watching this thread to see if there're improvements. It's such a compelling product...

This our quick test of the Nebula 4000. No stabilisation in the post....and no complains so far:

Cheers Thomas.
