Micro Gimbal for GH4, BMPCC, A7s - $699 USD

Dustylens or Dugdale, would this gimbal work well with the Sony a6000? Also would the Sony a6000 work well with a full size gimbal? Im new to this area, not sure if anyone tested that camera on this or any other gimbal. Any info would be great thanks
I don't see why not.

DugDale- Thanks for the fair & "balanced" review (I couldn't resist).

Permit me to share my latest stupid human trick:
After reading all 40-some pages in this thread + about 3 minutes of the review, I hit pause on the play button and placed my order.
(I'd been wrestling with the decision for weeks).

Then I (to my horror) watched the rest of the review . . .
Sent multiple e-mails to FilmPower to cancel my order (which they did with no fuss).

No doubt the Nebula 4000 in it's current configuration, and at the price point, is a clear winner as is--does what it does well (and nobody does it better, currently).
Someone else said it here somewhere . . . about waiting for a couple refinements that will put it over the top.
That's where I'm at.

But I couldn't pass on the opportunity to say thanks for the review and all the effort you certain members have put into this.
(and to share my dumbass move--not every day I have a chance to tell on myself).

I have the gimbal and will try it out this weekend with the A6000 hopefully. I think the A6000 and autofocus will come in really useful with some of it's native lenses and it should be a good combo.

The one for A7s is for the copters, it will be too big for handheld pistol (since it just similar to GH4 gimbal but constructed to cater A7 instead

For what it's worth, I just received an email response from DJI sales.

They indicated that the new Inspire Hand Held Mount has not officially been released -- and that all of the features have not yet been decided.
They suggested keeping an eye on their website for updates.

Hard to imagine them walking away from this market segment.

yes! Please Chris post your conclusion ASAP! look forward to hearing back.

Just wanted to share this quick test video my friend and I did while we were experimenting with the Nebula 4000 and the Panasonic LX100. It's a really great combo and I was really surprised at the camera and gimbal's performance, especially the LX100 in low light. I shot mostly at ISO 3200, however in other scenes (which are not on the video), I tried 6400 and it was really clean! Another great thing is using the Panasonic Image App, I could control the ISO, follow focus, and zoom wirelessly (tested all of this on other shots not included with this video), while my friend just concentrated on using the gimbal. This would be great for a small production shoot! And to this was his first time using it, we had no practice time or preps for the shoot, just wanted to do a quick test to see both devices capability! I want to learn more about the LX100 and it's settings.

Except for the framing, it looks really good. How hard is it to control the panning and tilting? It seems you cant control the pan and tilt. What focal length is the lx100 on?

Thanks for posting this. Coincidentally, last night I purchased an LX100 on Ebay with the intention of using it with the Nebula when I get one. I decided on the LX100 because it supposedly has the GH4 sensor and processor. I saw a hard cut from a GH4 to the LX100 shooting the same scene in 4K on Youtube and it appeared identical.

This was the first time my friend ever touched the gimbal and he said it wasn't hard at all. For the video, we literally shot it as soon as he touched it, he never had a chance to practice. So that's saying a lot about the learning curve for the Nebula 4000. And in my limited time with it also, it wasn't that hard to control the panning and tilting. There's a button on the side which you can press to change the mode for the gimbal, which will either lock up the pan, or the tilt or even both. I suggest checking out Dave Dugdale's review, it's excellent and there's a lot of info on there: http://www.learningdslrvideo.com/nebula-4000-lite-review/

The focal length on the LX100 was at 24mm.

Thanks for all the help and info in this thread - really useful

I went ahead and ordered one, it arrived on Friday, have charged the unit and manually balanced the camera - however when i turn it on I get a green light showing but no movement at all - not even a little bit of jerking around!

Ive seen that others have bricked their Nebula - but as I've not done anything other than flick it on I'm thinking I have a very duff unit - I also get no sound

Can anyone make any suggestions - before I return the unit as one unhappy bunny

Thanks all and my apologies that my first message is a shout for help :crybaby:

No sure solution, but make sure the plug on the charging cable is fully inserted into the handle to ensure proper charging of the battery. Maybe it wasn't pushed all the way in??? you have only enough juice to light the green light????? Also don't get in the habit of letting the handle rotate in 360 degree turns around the gimbal. I am sure there are wires that will break after the wires get severely twisted. It is so easy for the handle to turn 360 degrees when laid down, stored, etc.

Thanks Kraut69, worth a try but pushed all the way in - additionally the red charging light went off after it was fully charged so Ive taken this to also indicate proper charging was carried out - such a bugger!

If you are able to hook it up to the computer software with a USB cable, you can check battery voltage, and see what parts are not providing feedback.

A red blinking light is also visible next to the green light.

Im trying that route currently - although the site seems to be down for the Nebula 4000 - the software I have installed I'm not sure i have done correctly as it doesn't recognise the N4 plugged in, however this could of course be down to the fact its a duff unit rather than my lacking PC skills - hard to know - so in a bit of a mire lol!!! Thanks again very much appreciated

Thank you -just checked - yes both installed and seemingly operational - although nothing from the N4 - I have tried a different USB cable but no change - I did however see a slight resistance when I turned it on just now - so not completely dead! - I am however stumped :)

Well this just gets weirder - Ive now found if i lay it down for a while or move the bottom handle it will initiative (beeps etc) then after about 30 - 60 seconds of action it again goes dead - Im guessing this is a wiring issue - and have requested that Filmpower collect the unit - very disappointing and I'm now not sure what to do re bothering with a replacement - bugger!!

I ordered a Nebula4000 on Filmpower.com a week ago, money transferred via Paypal (to a company named ShangZhilin?)

I've tried to contact them via mail to get a DHL track'n'trace number, but haven't heard anything from them. Did any of you order from the same place, and did you get a track'n'trace number?
