Micro Gimbal for GH4, BMPCC, A7s - $699 USD

LOL Darren. But in my defense it was hard to hold the gimbal and film it with the Ipnone 6plus. I actually took the video to text a steadicam operator buddy of mine.

Stick with the ribbon type HDMI cable that has the 90 degree turn immediately coming out the camera. There is a triangular boss on the bracket that can cause problems with an HDMI cable that doesn't do the 90 degree turn.

There is also a 1/4-20 female thread on the back side of the handle, level with the on-off switch, above where your hand grips the handle, so more possibilities.

thanks @dustylens for the feedback. Too bad i have absolutely fallen in love with that combo for action sports and fear I would be utterly lost without it.
However this little gimbal set up is looking promising.

The twist knob that mounts the camera has a very thick grip, and the head of one of the allen head screws that mounts the yaw motor hits the knob at certain angles, the way my RX10 is configured now. So will probably hunt for a twist knob that has a thinner grip.

Post a picture of that. I'm clearing the issue you mention with lots of space.

New thin twist knob installed, old knob pictured beside it. I just ended up with a perfect alignment that caused a slight contact, the worst kind because it wasn't evident that something was hitting, but hitting enough to disrupt things.

Their picture of the Black Magic Pocket Cam shows how heavier lenses are more useable with that camera.

yeah but there is some modded type of mount going on there. The thing is with my gh4 mounted with 12-35 there is little to no room to mount the camera any further back and have any clearance being the camera. Also, I have yet to be able to download their software from the website. While I have the gimbal working and getting results out of the box, the support for this device seems a bit under par.

A mean tool for high shots on a monopod, the Sony RX10 screen tilts down for a better framing view.

Here is some footage guys.

This is with the Gh4 and 12-35. Front part is with a out of the box balance. Second part is with a better balance and I used IS on the lens. With this body lens combo, I just can't the the pan balance. There is not enough adjustment for that forward and backwards. Makes me think I would need a pancake lens to get the center of gravity correct for the pan axis balance.

The design could be better (COME ON DJI). I didn't plan on using this device for long one shot type takes. My hopes for the device was a simple take anywhere gimbal to add some dynamic movement to 3-5 second shots. I think the gimbal will provide me with that target. But as you look at my shots walking straight you will see some shakiness going on (like a vibration or something). Mostly due to the pan balance and inability to adjust the PID because I CANT GET THE SOFTWARE TO DOWNLOAD!

So last night I gave the gimbal an 8/10. I'm dropping that to 7/10 (if that). It works. It's light. It's different. But it's not perfect. $700 can go towards a really good gimbal and I'm sure there are more gimbals to come forward. For the sure shot, I have the Ronin. And even the Ronin can be a hassle (all gimbals are though). For quick shots and gimbal under my car seat, I will keep on with the Nebula. I still think the device is better than I expected. I just hope to take it further.

I'll post more thoughts but for today I'm burnt out thinking about it.

Oh yeah, I had to upload this twice. The first version had some tunes but Vimeos need copyright usage blocked it. SO a silent movie it is.

Looks good to a beginner like me. Yes, I am looking for the 3-5 second shots. Also for situations where a customer doesn't want the distraction of a large rig, and it's just for a web video. I also received a DJI Ronin today for the other situations.

I can see using a monopod 100% of the time with the Nebula. Collapsed to a foot and a half, I have much better control, and range of motion, since I have both hands on the monopod. I think also it's because your fingers can do the controlling, fingers are much more precise that what your arm and wrist can do. Also can get some rest sticking the end of the monopod in my belt. Should get smoother walking shots too.

Impressive! I think when walking it has a bounce that I dont see as much with full size gimbals but dang it looks really good and for the size and price I could use this alot! Pulling out wallet.....

Yeah, for now I'm gonna utilize it for special situations. 3-5 second shots to replace a small crane shot or dolly shot. Pack it under the drivers seat and pull it out when need be. I think a pancake lens or small prime would help with the balance of the Gh4 getting the YAW balance down.

Looking at this page:

http://filmpower.us/p/support

There is some text on where to get the software near the bottom which leads here:

http://chdntech.com/shop/chdnupload/

Seems to be a zip for Mac/PC/Linux and then a Android app ...

Waiting for a ribbon HDMI cable, but here it is with the DP4. The Nebula 4000 lays down nicely when not being used.
